The name of the ballpoint pen “is MechaSEA”.

The first of the trial product was completed the other day.

I am considering adopting A2017 to the material of the box of the initial lot.

I tried putting a commercially available ballpoint pen in it.

There are reasons why I chose this material.

Originally I thought that I would like to adopt paper boxes with many achievements at other companies.
But, when ordering foil stamping or elaborate processing, we have to order a certain quantity. (Order of thousands)
Together with the die cost, hundreds of thousands of yen to about 1 million yen costs money.
This is an unavoidable amount of money because other companies pay for it as well.
But, due to my experiences so far, various unexpected things will happens at the beginning of the release.

New products often come to think that I want to change the specifications when dozens of shipments are shipped.
・I want to change the design.
・ There was a problem. I want to take measures.
etc.
In that case, I can not do anything if I ordered a large quantity of boxes.
I spend hundreds of thousands of yen again, and I have to order from a mold.
We cannot collect the cost of the amount if we do not sell these several hundred ballpoint pens either.
When we spend money on inventory, the movement of the company stops.

Also, from my experience, it will take a certain period of time for products to be recognized in the world.
So at my company, I am taking a system that will not die at least for one year of next year, even if there is no profit with this pen.
It is really painful to hold inventory of boxes during that period.

We thought a lot.
If it’s made of metal, the price of one box is very high.
But, because it can be manufactured in-house at my company, there is no risk when looking at the total.
It was the opposite result to a normal company.
My company has many processing machines.
And it is a special situation that developers, designers, person of processing, production engineers are the same person.
So it is necessary for me to think one by one without fitting it in general theory.
As long as there is no problem, I will continue development with made of metal
as it is.
And I would like to use a metal box for the first few months only.
I do not know what will happen yet.
