We did homemade alumite.

Old post share.
Diffusion welcome.

Although our company that is usually remodeling a motorcycle, we spend a technique seriously and make a duralumin cutting ballpoint pen.
The name of the ballpoint pen “is MechaSEA”.

We have experimented to see if two color alumite can be made.
We can not think about the order of cutting process unless we confirm it now.
So, we did homemade alumite.
We did it using the temperature controller and electric stove which we made before.

We used dilute sulfuric acid, dye, sealant, lead electrode and pure aluminum wire at that time.
That is “Let’s alumite kit” I bought at Yahoo auction.

The way to do it is written in detail in the manual. Great.

I not made black dye before.
So, we compounding newly.

Process is degreasing → energization in sulfuric acid → water → dye → water → sealing agent → water.
The electricity is OK with a battery battery charger.

This time, we wanted to know if we could do two color alumite.
So, we cut off the alumite part of the item on which alumite is already done with milling cutter or belt cutter and do the alumite.

When I write more than this, it will be long.
It will continue to the next…

Araki F Machine seriously introduced technology and made it.
It’s all made with cutting of the aluminum.
It’s extremely mechanical ballpoint pen, MechaSEA.

Geek ballpoint pen with technologic, MechaSEA. I do a commentary of Fisher space pen a little.

Although our company that is usually remodeling a motorcycle, we spend a technique seriously and make a duralumin cutting ballpoint pen.
The name of the ballpoint pen “is MechaSEA”.

We adopted space pen of Fisher company to the refill.
The history of the space pen is old and seems to be 50th anniversary in this year.
It is a pen that has been proven to a great results, which NASA has adopted and used in the universe.
There are many introduction videos on Youtube, but I embed the most obvious things.

I explain the characteristic of this.
● The size is a little smaller than Parker type G2 which is most popular.
But, if you plug in the adapter that comes with the refill it will be compatible with Parker.
This is useful.

● The material of the ball is tungsten carbide. It is cemented carbide.
It is the same material as carbide endmill or carbide mold.
Since it is very hard it is impossible unless it is a diamond or borazon or electric discharge machining in order to process it.

● Compressed nitrogen is enclosed in the behind of the ink via a float separator.
It’s pressure is about 240kPa (0.24 MPa). Generally it is air pressure of the tires of the cars.
By doing this, you can write with weightlessness or upward.

● It uses thixotropic ink. So, the usable temperature range is wide, it is -34 ~ + 121 ℃.
Furthermore, it can write on underwater or glossy side.
Because it does not dry, the safekeeping more than 100 years is possible.

● As for the refill, only this has many kinds.↓
It is a characteristic that there are a lot of colors.

Then,”Faced with the fact that ballpoint pens can not be used with weightlessness, NASA has developed a pen that can withstand a space flight environment by spending a lot of money. In contrast, the Soviet Union used the pencil.”
This famous story seems to be an urban legend.

Fisher company developed it at own expense and seemed to try it in NASA.
